To Tell The Truth (2001)

I take pages from discarded schoolbooks and use them as sketch paper (20cm x 30cm). The information contained ranges from serenely educational language courses to sublimely ridiculous scientific academia. Translation is often irregular.

I draw classically posed models from Hanoi School of Art over the text. I mount these overlays within temple paraphernalia, such as dinh dong (shrine money) and prayer sheets, lending further spiritual gravitas to the old and new ways.
